He tested the hit gadget: "It's like stepping into a new house"

Han testade succéprylen: ”Som att kliva in i ett nytt hus”

A stale smell had taken hold in their 70s villa. Camilla and Mikael Nilsson tested the Swedish product Clean from Ozoneair.
– It feels like we have a new home – the whole house smells fresh, like new, the couple says.

Here’s how it happened, step by step.

Camilla and Mikael Nilsson both work as firefighters and live in a 120 square meter villa in Töre, north of Luleå.

The house was built in 1975 in a way that is not standard practice today, with a foundation that is not sufficiently sealed and allows moisture and odors to rise.

– There has always been a slightly stale, earthy smell in the house, says Camilla, who has lived there for about 10 years.

The smell clung to clothes

The house has been inspected and is not affected by mold; the soil underneath is bone dry. But the stale smell had taken hold indoors.

– I stopped noticing the smell when I was home, but when I had been away and came back in, I could smell it strongly. The smell could also cling to our clothes, Camilla says.

The couple discussed whether they would need to renovate. But then they decided to try the Swedish product Clean: a unique machine that you can use in your home without any prior knowledge. Thanks to ozone gas – which cleans 3000 times more effectively than chlorine bleach – Clean removes bad odors, and also the cause of the odors.

“Now the odors are as if by magic”

Mikael was skeptical, he admits:

– Yes, it sounded too good to be true. But I thought, better to try it than to start tearing up the floors.

And today, the stale smell is gone.

– It's fantastic. The bad odors are as if by magic, and it feels like we have a new home, Mikael says.

Here's how it happened:

The couple began by sanitizing the crawl space and placed the Clean machine under the house.

– The machine ran for ten hours. Then we moved it and it ran for another ten hours.

Did you notice any results?

– Yes, immediately. It started to smell fresher indoors.

“Clothes and textiles were also cleaned”

They waited a few weeks for warmer weather. Then they sanitized room by room indoors with the same Ozoneair machine.

– We carried the plants out of the room we were going to sanitize; plants don't do well when exposed to ozone. Then we opened all cabinets, wardrobes, and drawers in the room – this was so that the ozone would have the opportunity to penetrate and clean clothes, textiles, and other items.

The machine is automatic

They connected the machine to an electrical outlet and placed it in the middle of the room. The room's area was set via a dial; the machine is automatic and calculates the optimal cleaning time itself.

Then they closed the windows and doors.

– We just had to wait until the machine had finished its work. Afterwards, you could smell a pungent odor of ozone, but it dissipated immediately when we aired out the room. Then we moved the machine to the next room.

“Super easy from start to finish”

Now the entire home smells like new, they attest.

– Yes, the environment is completely different, as if it had been meticulously cleaned and scrubbed. Even clothes, textiles, and items smell clean and fresh.

How long did it take?

– The machine worked for one or two hours per room, so we were done after about two days. It was super easy from start to finish.

And Mikael – who was skeptical – says he feels proven wrong:

– Now I know this works and I can highly recommend Clean to anyone who wants to get rid of odors.

What is ozone?

A colorless gas found both near the ground and high in the atmosphere. The molecule consists of three oxygen atoms. Ground-level ozone can form when sunlight meets car exhaust, and is harmful to plants and animals. The atmosphere's ozone layer, as we know, protects us from the sun's UV radiation.

Why is it so effective?

John Sundman, an experienced inspector and civil engineer, explains the technology behind Clean:

– When Clean is operating, it fills the space with ozone that reaches into cracks, nooks, and crannies where the odor originates, he says.

– There, it attacks odor-producing molecules and neutralizes them. This method is superior to traditional cleaning methods, as ozone works deeply and not just on the surface.

Chemically, the ozone molecule is aggressive and therefore incredibly effective. It attacks and eliminates odor-producing molecules.

Ozone is used, among other things, for bleaching textiles and paper pulp, as well as disinfecting laundry in healthcare. In many parts of the world, drinking water is purified with ozone, which removes mold spores, bacteria, and other microorganisms.

Furniture and rooms damaged by smoke from fires can be sanitized and made odor-free with the help of ozone.

But is it completely safe to use Clean at home?

Johan Lundberg, founder of Ozoneair:

– Yes, if you handle it correctly. You should never inhale ozone. You must leave the room when you have started your product and wait two hours after it has finished operating before entering the treated area. Then all ozone molecules are guaranteed to be gone; they automatically decompose into regular oxygen.
