Their 1940s house had everything – except for a bad odor.
The musty smell was impossible to get rid of, clinging to clothes, furniture, and decor.
– We tried Clean, and now the house smells as if it were new, say Irene Lundqvist and Göran Lundgren.

Irene Lundqvist and Göran Lundgren live in Vallentuna, but Irene also owns a 1940s house just outside Norberg in Västmanland.
– I bought the house 12 years ago and have furnished it in an old-fashioned style that harmonizes with the house's character. Many pieces of furniture are older; some I inherited from my parents, she explains.
The house is a permanent residence with all amenities. Irene and Göran live there periodically, but sometimes it stands empty and shut up for several months.
– Every time we came to the house, we were met by a musty smell – a strong odor that clung to our clothes and hair, but which could also get into items, furniture, textiles, and other decor, says Göran.
They had the house inspected, but it has no mold damage. However, it has a concrete foundation, and such a foundation tends to release moisture and odor into the building.
– We tried "everything" to get rid of the smell. Cleaning products, air purifiers, hot air fans in the basement. But nothing helped.
Ozone removes odors and mold spores
Göran received a tip that odors can be eliminated with ozone, a gas also known as "active oxygen." Behind the innovation is Ozoneair, a tech company in Luleå.
– The Clean machine converts oxygen in the air into ozone, which attacks and neutralizes air molecules, says Johan Lundberg, founder of Ozoneair.
Just press a button
Using Clean is very easy, Irene and Göran confirm:
– The instruction manual is clear and in Swedish. You place the machine in the middle of the room, plug it into a power outlet, and start it with a push of a button. Then you leave the house and let the machine work while you do something else. It is fully automatic and also easy to handle; it only weighs a few kilograms.

"Pure magic"
The couple started by placing Clean in the basement, where it worked for eight hours. Then they put it on the ground floor in the middle of the house for another eight hours. A few weeks later, they repeated the treatment.
– The smell and the air feel completely different afterwards: fresh, clean, and clear! Now, when we come here, it's like stepping into a new house; it smells as if it were newly built. It's pure magic, says Göran.
They opened cabinets, wardrobes, and drawers before the treatment so that the ozone could freshen up clothes and textiles. – They smelled like they were freshly washed afterward.
Your tip for people curious about sanitizing with ozone?
– Ozone is an established method for getting rid of stubborn odors, and we can warmly recommend Clean from Ozoneair. We're not very technical, but we've hardly encountered a simpler machine. You can also use it for about 1000 treatments.
– Another tip is to sanitize with Clean before selling if you're going to sell your house, car, or boat. A house that is free from musty odors can increase in value by hundreds of thousands.

Fact: Why your house smells musty
Musty odor is a common problem; the cause can be mold, but the house doesn't have to be damaged by mold. Summer houses that are closed up and cooled down during the winter months start to smell stale. Ventilation is limited, and humidity rises in all materials while bacteria thrive. The musty and stale smell often spreads and "settles" into walls, floors, and decor.
The smell can also come from older materials, such as wallboards and linoleum. Impregnation in the house's construction (especially from the 1960s and 1970s) smells a bit like mold, but more pungent. In a linoleum floor with a damaged surface layer, moisture can penetrate and the linseed oil can turn rancid; then a "vomit-like" smell rises when the floor has been scrubbed and dries. Moisture-damaged carpet adhesive can also smell musty.
Clean works effectively against all these odors.
Here's where you can sanitize with Clean:
The basement – ventilation is often poor, and there is a high risk of mold and moisture forming.
The crawl space – the smell of moisture can spread and settle into walls and decor.
In your home – odors often linger in furniture, textiles, and decor.
The attic and storage room – it often smells stale here as a result of moisture and poor ventilation.
The bathroom and laundry room – drains, moisture, and poor ventilation can cause odors.
The car – moisture, food residues, pets, motion sickness; a car often starts to smell bad.
The vacation home, caravan, motorhome, boat – often stand empty for longer periods and therefore smell stale and often musty.
