Sofas, armchairs, beds, and rugs are often stain magnets. Wine, coffee, grease, or dirt from small hands quickly embed themselves in the fabric.

- Red wine – salt
Act immediately when an accident occurs. Sprinkle generously with salt, wait a while, then put the textile in the washing machine or gently blot. Avoid rubbing – this pushes the stain deeper into the fabric.
- Coffee – dish soap
Act quickly as coffee stains become more stubborn every second they remain. Coffee stains often disappear with a simple mixture of lukewarm water and a few drops of dish soap. Use a clean cloth and gently blot until the stain dissolves.
- Grease stains – potato starch
Grease is tricky, but potato starch works wonders. Sprinkle over the stain, let it sit for a few hours, then vacuum up the powder.
- Blood – cold water
Here, it's important to act fast. Use cold water (never hot, as it will coagulate the blood) and gently blot with a cloth until the stain lifts.
- General dirt – soft soap
Mild soft soap dissolved in lukewarm water works on most things. Always test first on a small, hidden area to ensure the fabric doesn't discolor.
