General questions about Guard

Ozoneair Dry is a flexible dehumidifier for warmer spaces such as laundry rooms, garages, and living rooms. It also purifies the air and has wheels, allowing you to easily move it where needed.

Ozoneair Guard is a desiccant dehumidifier designed for cold and exposed environments such as crawl spaces, unheated basements, and attics. It is permanently installed and works effectively even at low temperatures.

Ozoneair Guard not only removes moisture like regular desiccant dehumidifiers, but it also improves air quality by neutralizing harmful emissions and particles. With advanced air purification technology and efficient operation at low temperatures, it is ideal for crawl spaces.

A desiccant dehumidifier uses a special adsorbent material that attracts and binds water molecules from the air. As humid air passes through the material, water vapor is adsorbed, and a rotating desiccant wheel is continuously regenerated by blowing out the moisture with a heated airstream.

Desiccant dehumidifiers are effective at low temperatures because they do not rely on refrigerants, as compressor-based dehumidifiers do. They work well even at temperatures close to 0°C, making them ideal for cold and damp spaces such as crawl spaces, basements, and garages.

The air purification function is important because it improves indoor air quality by neutralizing harmful emissions and particles that can spread from the crawl space to the rest of the house. This contributes to a healthier living environment.

Guard is ideal for cold and damp environments like crawl spaces. It works effectively at low temperatures, preventing mold growth and protecting your home from moisture damage. Its air purification function also improves indoor air quality by eliminating harmful particles.

A dry crawl space prevents mold growth, structural damage, and poor indoor air quality. Elevated moisture levels can lead to costly repairs and health problems for residents.

High humidity can lead to mold growth, rot in wood and other building materials, as well as the spread of harmful spores and odors to the rest of the house. It can also attract pests.

The Technology

  1. Air intake:
Moist air is drawn in through the air intake on the front or side of the unit. This is done with the help of a powerful internal fan.
  2. Dehumidification (core technology):
The air passes through a drying medium (sorption technology). This technology works even at low temperatures, which is one of the major advantages compared to traditional refrigerant-based dehumidifiers.

This makes Guard particularly effective in crawl spaces and unheated areas.

Sorption technology means that moisture is absorbed by a material that then releases the moisture in the form of warm, humid air, which is then expelled from the space.
  3. Dry air exhaust:
After dehumidification, the unit expels dry and stable air through the exhaust. The dry air gradually lowers the humidity in the space.
  4. Automatic humidity control:
In models with a display (SP-100), an advanced sensor regulates the humidity and automatically adjusts operation, creating an optimal climate without you needing to make any adjustments.

In addition to removing moisture, Guard 240D neutralizes harmful emissions, mold spores, viruses, and bacteria. This contributes to a healthier indoor environment and prevents contaminants from spreading to the rest of the house.

Oxyplasma® is an active air purification method that creates reactive oxygen molecules. These break down moisture, odors, mold spores, and harmful emissions directly in the crawl space.

Neutralizes harmful emissions
The technology works around the clock to neutralize building chemicals, odor molecules, and organic substances—like an invisible protective shield.

Prevents mold and unpleasant odors
By breaking down microorganisms and odor sources, a clean and fresh environment is created.

Guard combines Oxyplasma® purification with sorption dehumidification, allowing the unit to:

  • effectively regulate humidity (even at low temperatures)
  • prevent mold, rot, and moisture damage
  • purify the air from emissions and odors
  • Drier and more stable moisture levels
  • Reduced odor and improved air quality
  • Lower risk of mold and damage
  • A safer crawl space and improved indoor environment throughout the house

Usage and Maintenance

Auto Mode

The dehumidifier automatically adjusts operation and fan speed according to temperature and humidity. It maintains a stable level and increases power when humidity rises – without you needing to adjust anything.

Manual Mode

Control the climate yourself. Choose your desired humidity level and fan speed. The machine works until the target is reached and restarts if needed when humidity increases. Perfect when you want full control.

Eco Mode

Energy-efficient and smart. The dehumidifier automatically regulates to maintain the selected humidity level and enters power-saving mode when the target is reached. Ideal for continuous and cost-effective dehumidification.

Guard Base

The Guard Base is easy to use and operates in continuous mode – ideal for water damage and when you want to quickly reduce humidity levels. Start the unit with the power switch on the back. When the light is green, the dehumidifier is on.

The installation of a sorption dehumidifier is simple, and all necessary parts are included in the installation kit. Place the dehumidifier centrally in the space, connect ventilation ducts for supply air, wet air, and exhaust air, and plug the unit into a grounded power outlet.

  • Only qualified personnel may install the unit.
  • Read all warnings in the manual before installation.
  • Do not use the unit if the power supply or cables are damaged.
  • Do not block the air intakes or outlets.
  • Do not allow children or pets to handle the unit.

Yes, desiccant dehumidifiers are flexible and can be used in various environments such as basements, garages, RVs, and boats, where moisture is a problem.

The user-friendly display shows important operating parameters such as current humidity, temperature, and unit settings. This makes it easy to monitor and adjust the dehumidifier's performance for optimal efficiency.

To ensure optimal performance, you should replace the filters annually. Also, regularly inspect the unit for signs of wear or damage and replace parts as needed.

Yes, but it's simple:

  1. Remove the filter cover.
  2. Pull out the filter.
  3. Vacuum or replace the filter as needed.
  • Green light: Normal operation.
  • Red light: Fault – check the troubleshooting table in the manual.

Typical causes of faults:

  • Dirty filter
  • Too high/low temperatures
  • Power outage or poor connection
  • Blocked airflow

Ozoneair Guard operates optimally in temperatures between 5–45 °C.

Troubleshooting guide

Possible cause:

  1. The filter is blocked, reducing performance.

Solution:

  1. Clean or replace the filter. After replacement, press and hold the fan button on the external display for 3 seconds to reset the filter's timer.

Possible cause:

  1. The unit stops dehumidifying when the humidity reaches the correct level. The unit will periodically run the fan for a few minutes to check the conditions in the room.

Solution:

  1. The unit will automatically start when the humidity increases.

Possible cause:

  1. The fan is broken.

Solution:

  1. Check that the fan is rotating.

Possible cause:

  1. The ambient temperature is between 0°C and −15°C.

Solution:

  1. This is a reminder to check that the dehumidification outlet does not become frosted.

Possible Cause:

  1. The ambient temperature is outside the operating range, higher than 40°C or lower than -15°C.

Solution:

  1. This is normal. The unit will return to dehumidifying when the temperature is below 40°C or above -15°C.

Possible cause:

  1. Safety protection due to internal overheating or another registered fault. The display shows "SERVICE REQUIRED" or "SENSOR ERROR".
  2. The display shows "NO CONNECTION".

Solution:

  1. Unplug the unit. Check if the air inlet, filter, or air outlet are covered. Remove any obstructions. Wait at least 30 minutes before starting the machine. If the unit overheats, contact the installer.
  2. Check that the wiring and connection to the display are correct.

Possible cause:

  1. The fuse at the power switch/connector is broken.

Solution:

  1. Open and check the fuse in the middle of the power switch. Replace with a fuse of the same amperage (?) as the previous one.
