An ozone machine or ozone cleaner is a device that removes bad odors. Ozone is an effective and natural substance often used in various cleaning processes. Ozoneair's machines utilize the properties of ozone to purify air.
How an ozone cleaner works
Through powerful electronic discharges, an ozone machine breaks down oxygen molecules, which consist of two oxygen atoms. The single oxygen atoms, or oxygen singletons, strive to recombine into a molecule, which creates ozone. Ozone consists of three oxygen atoms and is a volatile molecule that reacts with other substances. This property causes it to react with and change odor compounds, eliminating bad odors.
Unique technology in Ozoneair's ozone machine
In large quantities, ozone is a dangerous substance that can harm both humans and materials. That's why Ozoneair has developed an ozone machine with a strong focus on safety. The amounts of ozone used in the cleaning process are not dangerous, and as an extra safety measure, our ozone cleaners use oscillating intervals. This is a unique technology that ensures a consistent level of ozone during treatment and prevents damage to materials from ozone reacting with already broken-down substances. If ozone reacts with substances again during treatment, foul-smelling substances and acids can form that are impossible to get rid of. The oscillating intervals ensure there is no risk of these lingering foul-smelling substances.
Sanitize your basement and remove bad odors with Ozoneair
The ozone reacts with bacteria and odor compounds, whose properties are altered, and the bad odor disappears. What remains of the odor compounds is water and carbon dioxide. Ozone molecules that do not react with bacteria or odor compounds eventually revert to their oxygen molecule form. Therefore, our products have a safety regulation stating that the area treated with an ozone machine should be left undisturbed for two hours after the treatment is completed. After two hours, you can be sure that no ozone remains in the air, and you can use the space as usual. Sometimes a metallic smell may linger after treatment; this is the smell of ozone, but it's not dangerous to detect a certain odor after an ozone cleaning.
Odors an ozone machine can remove
Almost all odors can be eliminated with ozone. The most common bad odors our customers seek help with are:
- Musty smell
- Mildew smell
- Impregnation smell
- Smoke smell
- Fire smell
- Urine smell
- Chemical smell
- Pet odor
Before performing an ozone treatment with an ozone machine, you need to ensure that pets and plants are not in the space to be treated. For the most effective treatment possible, one that truly reaches all bacteria and odor molecules, you should also:
- Close all doors and windows, and seal any gaps around openings.
- Cover vents to prevent ozone from leaking out of the space being treated.
- Open wardrobe doors and cabinet doors so that the ozone can penetrate properly and reach these areas as well.
You can also hang clothes or other types of textiles that you want to be treated.

Different Ozoneair ozone machines
Ozoneair has three different ozone machines adapted for different sized spaces.
GO
The smallest ozone machine, GO, is suitable for smaller spaces, such as individual small rooms, a car, or a boat. This machine has a capacity of 30 sqm, and a treatment takes four hours.
PLUS
The PLUS ozone machine is suitable for medium-sized rooms and smaller houses and apartments. It has a capacity of up to 60 sqm, and the treatment time is two hours.
PRO
The PRO ozone machine is the largest ozone machine from Ozoneair. It is suitable for entire houses and apartments, as well as for commercial use. The capacity is up to 120 sqm, and the treatment time is two hours. All Ozoneair ozone machines have a lifespan of 4000 hours, are fully automatic, and use the unique oscillating interval technology. The two larger models are refillable. See comparison between models

Prepare and use the ozone machine
A few years ago, not many Swedes knew about Ozoneair. Today, many more have heard about the ozone generator that removes bad odors and also neutralizes mold spores, bacteria, and allergens. Here, we explain how you can easily sanitize or clean with ozone on your own. The Swedish-developed ozone machine Ozoneair has become known primarily for its ability to eliminate bad odors using ozone gas. Anyone with odor problems in any space should definitely try sanitizing with Ozoneair – many people can attest to its effectiveness. Ozone also neutralizes mold spores, bacteria, allergens, and other harmful microorganisms, making Ozoneair useful for those who want a fresher scent and a generally cleaner feel at home. The device is also small and easy to move, which means you can, for example, take it to your summer house to freshen it up for the season. You can also quickly and effectively refresh spaces such as attics, basements, crawl spaces, cars, boats, caravans, or motorhomes. Ozoneair is designed for private individuals without prior knowledge to use it safely. Here's how to do it, in three simple steps:
- Preparations for ozone cleaning
Ensure that no people, animals, or plants are in the space you are treating. Ozone can cause respiratory irritation and is harmful to plants. Open wardrobes, cabinets, drawers, and hatches so that the ozone can reach odors and particles on all surfaces and in all spaces. Then seal the space by covering vents and closing windows and doors. You can partition with construction plastic if there is no door or between floors. The idea is that the space should be as airtight as possible to prevent ozone from leaking out of the area you are treating.
- Treatment with an ozone cleaner
Connect Ozoneair to an electrical outlet and place it in the center of the room, preferably elevated, for example, on a table or chair. To start the machine, press a knob and then turn it to set the size of the room. The treatment time will now appear on the display. Then press start, leave the room, and close the door behind you.
- After ozone treatment
An ozone treatment with an ozone cleaner typically takes between two and four hours, depending on the size of the space. When the treatment time expires, the machine automatically switches off. After that, you should wait an additional two hours before re-entering the room. During this time, the ozone will have converted back into regular oxygen, and it is then safe to breathe the air in the room. An ozone smell may remain in the room, but this smell will dissipate and disappear if you air out the room. Sometimes, repeating the treatment may be necessary.
Common questions about ozone machines
How long does a treatment with an ozone machine take? It depends on the size of the space you are treating and which ozone cleaner you have. We usually say it takes two hours per 30 sqm and treatment. After that, the space needs to be left for two hours for all ozone to break down and return to the form of oxygen. Is it safe to use an ozone cleaner to remove bad odors? Yes, it is safe to use Ozoneair ozone cleaners if you follow the instructions. They are well-tested and have unique technology that ensures the ozone level in the air never becomes too high. However, you should never use ozone machines that have not been thoroughly tested. What is ozone? Ozone is a gas that occurs naturally in the world; ozone often forms during thunderstorms when the powerful electrical discharges create ozone from oxygen atoms in the air. Ozone has the chemical formula O3, while oxygen is denoted as O, and the oxygen molecules we breathe have the formula O2. Will the odor return after treatment? No, the odor will not return after treatment with an ozone cleaner. However, it is important that you have addressed the cause of the bad odor. Mold odor, for example, is caused by the presence of mold somewhere in the space; the moisture that caused the mold must have been stopped from continuing the mold growth. Ozone will remove both the mold odor and the mold spores, but ozone will not fix leaks or holes in surfaces.
